Utilising radiation therapy to target and eliminate cancer cells while protecting healthy tissue, radiation oncology treats cancer. It is generally administered by specialised machinery such as linear accelerators as part of an all-encompassing treatment strategy that is tailored for every patient.
To provide accurate and Effective treatment, the radiation oncology department uses modern techniques such as 3D conformal Radiation Therapy (3DCRT), intensity – Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT), Image guided Radiation therapy (ICRT), Respiratory gating / Deep inspiration Breath Hold (BIBH) and stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS).
